Peaks

The third photo down brings back the clearest memories. We had started in the morning down near the stream at the bottom of the shot, in Lower Pisang. As soon as we started the day’s walk we were confronted with a very steep climb that really did not seem to end. Conveniently, that morning (and the previous night) was the only time on my trip I really felt any effects of altitude, so I struggled severely up that hill. The most irritating moment was when I was overtaken by a very elderly lady… And then laughed at by my cousin who had already made it to the top.

It was worth it though – the view from Upper Pisang is easily the best I saw on the Annapurna circuit.

February 2009.
